Simplifying the numbers game for MCB franchisees

As part of the continued evolution of Marla Custom Blinds’ franchise operations, a new cloud based accounting software system is being introduced to the national network of franchisees.

imagesHaving run trials and completed the set-up, Marla is now rolling out Quickbooks Online across its network to provide greater efficiency for franchisees in their accountancy.

Marla’s Head of Franchising, Martin Froud explains: “By having unified online software across the network we aim to simplify and ease the accounting requirements for our franchisees so they can focus on developing their businesses.  It will also enable our head office team to provide better support on a day-to-day basis as they will be able to access information and advise franchisees based on clear and consistent data.”

Quickbooks will ease the pressure of accounting for the franchisees by making the processes more efficient and organised.  Among other things, the franchisees will be able to create and send invoices, log business expenses, check profit and loss, submit VAT returns and record deposits.

In addition, franchisees will be able to access useful insights because every transaction is recorded.  For example, they’ll be able to see details of their cash flow and a breakdown of client profitability instantaneously.  These tools provide valuable data into every aspect of the franchisees’ finances, which will help them make key decisions with confidence.

Martin continues: “We wanted a system that was in the cloud so franchisees had the flexibility to access it online wherever they are and on any device.  With Quickbooks our franchisees always have access to up-to-date figures and can share data with the head office team or their accountant when required.  Storing it in the cloud also means the data is protected and automatically backed up, and any data sent over the internet is protected by bank-level encryption.”

Marla chose Quickbooks, after reviewing several options for online accounting software, as they were impressed with the functionality it provides.  For example, it will automatically sync with the franchisees’ bank accounts, saving them time and reducing data entry errors. It also learns from their behaviour and will automatically classify transactions.  It was felt this was the best tool available to help Marla franchisees manage their accounts efficiently and effectively.
