Good news in a tough climate

With many people deciding to improve their homes rather than move house, the fitting of conservatories is an increasingly popular option – which is good news for companies that supply and fit conservatory blinds like Marla Custom Blinds!
Having started the company in 1995, founder and Director Martin Froud recognised that the business would provide an excellent opportunity for franchisees and their first – Steve Hartland – started operating in the West Country in November 2011.
Closely supported by Head Office, Steve took part in the Devon County Show this spring and, through an innovative competition to name the two Marla Dogs in a new advertising campaign, was able to generate several thousand pounds worth of orders within three weeks of the event. His success has continued with a recent single order for over five thousand pounds – a cause of much celebration both in Devon and in the Marla Custom Blinds HQ in Hampshire.

Says Steve “It’s hard work but definitely worth doing – the support of Martin, Angela and all at head office has been brilliant. A lot of people choose blinds rather than curtains because they are more effective at blocking out light for bedroom, and can give an airy, more minimal feeling to a room. People are amazed at the huge range of styles and colours we can offer which makes my job much easier!”
The company is about to launch a new website which includes a help and resources area for franchisees, and it continues to trade strongly despite the present economic climate.
